A whole-person approach to healing chronic pain
Hi there, and welcome.
I’m Ed Belding. I’ve been a physical therapist for more than 40 years, working with a wide range of people—from elite athletes to individuals facing complex and debilitating chronic illnesses.
Alongside my clinical experience, I also bring something deeply personal to this work: an inside perspective.
For years, I struggled with my own journey through chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and persistent pain. I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed, discouraged, and disconnected from the person you used to be. I understand what it’s like to feel trapped in a deep hole without knowing how to begin climbing out.
Through my own recovery journey, I came to understand that healing is not only about treating injured tissues or reducing symptoms. It’s also about understanding the powerful connection between the body, the nervous system, stress, movement, emotions, and overall health.
That understanding became the foundation for Mind & Body Pain Care.
My goal is to provide practical tools, guidance, and encouragement that help you move from feeling threatened by your symptoms to feeling more confident, informed, and in control of your recovery.
I know that when you’re in pain—or dealing with fatigue, anxiety, or brain fog—processing new information can sometimes feel overwhelming. Because of that, I designed this website to be as approachable, supportive, and easy to navigate as possible.
At the beginning of many major sections, you’ll find custom audio and video summaries created specifically for Mind & Body Pain Care content. These guided overviews are designed to provide a quick “big picture” understanding of the material, especially if you’re short on time or simply looking for an easier way to absorb the information.
This course serves as the foundation of the website. It explains the modern science of pain and nervous system sensitization in a way that is practical and understandable. For many people, understanding why symptoms persist is an important first step toward reducing fear and calming the system.
Once you have that foundation, you can explore guided movement, mindfulness, breathing, pacing, and lifestyle strategies. Think of these as the different “spokes” that support the wheel of recovery.
If you are navigating more complex conditions such as hypermobility syndromes, POTS, dysautonomia, MCAS, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, or Long COVID, there is a dedicated section designed to help you connect the dots between these overlapping challenges.
You are not your diagnosis.
And you are definitely not alone.
My hope is that the resources on this site help you better understand your body, regain confidence, and gradually become your own rehabilitation expert.
Right below this section, you’ll find a custom video presentation created specifically to guide you through this website and its resources. I encourage you to watch that next. It provides a simple overview of where to begin based on your own symptoms, challenges, and goals.
I’m glad you’re here, and I look forward to being part of your journey forward.
